"Magic Tree"

"Planet Lovecraft"

Robert Anderson

It may be hard to believe that these are both by the same artist.
A little split personality. There's some more of each style at this gallery's website.
www.mccormickgallery.com
He also has a myspace page that lists a bunch of other galleries.

"Life is What You Make It"

"Time is a Place"

Steven Yazzie

I'm partial to this coyote. There's a few more coyotes in rooms on his website
stevenyazzie.com
There's also figurative paintings, birds, abstracts, installations, and so on...

"Indigenous Interior"

Vitaly Martynenko

These fantastic still lifes were posted by someone identified only as Tomatto on flickr.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/30048277@N08/
He or she also has posted a lot of other art of very different styles. There's enough great stuff to make it worthwhile digging through. None of the pieces are properly titled.

This last piece here is posted on the same site as if by the same artist but while the still lifes are signed M.B. the cows are clearly signed something like Martinenko V.

An explanation:
Hello David. I am glad you so curious. It is very simply explane. I am is Russian and live in Russia, so I sign my painting in cirylic , sometime in English. My name is Vitaly Martynenko (Виталий Мартыненко in Russian). So, when I sign B.M. it's mean V.M. (Vitaly Martynenko), when I sign M.B. it's mean M.V. (Martynenko Vitaly), Sometime I sign my painting ( for US gallery) V. Martynenko. I hope I explane you. You are is very considerate, I like it. Thank you for letter.

"Ghastly Nights"

"The Swimmer"

Kelly Mudge

The Flesh on these paintings is worthy of Lucien Freud. Just beautiful.
There's also lots of portraits with odd gestures and multiple limbs... you really should check it out.
Her Website is mudgefactory.com
most of the same stuff is also on her Myartspace page

"Busted"

"Drunk"

"Emily"

Seth Fitts

Here are some very delicate drawings and paintings. I can't even put my finger on what it is I like about them so much. There is a lot of similar work out there that leaves me cold. The best of these have the elegant charm of Redon. Okay, maybe that's going too far but that's how I feel.

"Contemplation"

Because I can't resist an evocative night image.

"Boscastle (after Albert Pinkham Ryder)"

Clifford Elgin

I love this guy's drawings. I'd buy a book of these. I also enjoy the very straightforward descriptive titles.
Here's a link to more work.

"Kinder!" (Children) by Frank Kunert

"Light at the End of the Tunnel"

"Sunnyside"

John Brosio

For those who like their apocalypse a little more intimate than the previous entry. There's tornado after ominous tornado here, beautifully executed. But look at the earlier paintings too; a dead shark and a triceratops skull all equally powerful. http://www.johnbrosio.com/.
There's some very amusing portraits and some very grim ones as well on Myartspace.

"Partners" 1996

"Meditation" 2003

"John"

Jean-Pierre Roy

For everyone who likes to visualize the apocaypse in all it's myriad potential forms and aftermaths (and hey, who doesn't?) I recommend looking through all the works by this artist. While at times he seems to revel in the bright garish hues of his destructions it is the more somber pieces that really get me. I'm telling you, I sure wish I could paint like this.

Carson Ellis

Some may recognize her art from the Decemberists' album covers. I actually noticed her art before I'd heard the band (They're really good too). There is a rich dark humor throughout her work. Check out her website at carsonellis.com
To see hundreds more wonderful sketches check out her apparently defunct blog (2007 only it seems) littlelittlegreenhouse.blogspot.com
She also posts a bunch of cool stuff to look at from her own collections and gatherings of inspirational material for her art at fastermaria.blogspot.com

"Russian Village"

Rob Evans

These are gorgeous traditional paintings, most with heavy doses of allegory, but it's the light that attracts me the most
